How To... Absorb the Romance of Paris

Paris… the city of love. That’s what everyone says right? And with Valentines upon us, how many couples do you know jetting off to Parieeeeeee?

I hadn’t been to Paris since I was yay-high (what does that really even mean.) So now that I’m a mature fully grown adult, that seems like the most logically place to celebrate an engagement? Yep. That’s right. Dropped that in there. I went and got engaged! That could explain why I’ve been so incognito the last month (s) or so, apologies. And that’s genuine, I’ve missed the Pocket Rockets! But anyway… back to why we’re all really here. Paris is a city where it's easy to be swept off your feet. So if you're heading over, for a romantic occasion, make sure the wind sweeps you in these directions:

To the Parks:

Tucked away by the metro Abbesses (much prettier than it sounds…) is the teeniest park called Square Jehan Rictus, and in there is the Le Mur des je t'aime (oh man, it even reads pretty.). It literally translates to... The Wall of Love. This is a spot I’d never heard about before this trip, and I’m surprised it hasn't already been Instagrammed all over the shop already! But of course, that makes it a little bit more special. The wall is composed of 612 tiles of enamelled lava, on which the phrase 'I love you' is featured 311 times in 250 languages. It really is a sight to see. And what better occasion to soak it all in.

To the Cafes:

Le Saint JeanWhilst in pretty old Abbesses, (honestly whatever way you say it...) you’re in a great area for a traditional Parisian brunch stop. We stopped off at , which is round the corner and it did a fiiiiiiine croissant and coffee, in the sun, whilst people watching. If you ever wanted an excuse to start smoking, that moment would be it. However, if you’ve got some more time that we did, or you're looking for a bigger meal, I’d wonder around a bit further. There's loads of chic looking cafes nearby here, to there maybe an even more perfect one lurking around and check there’s not a more perfect spot nearby.

To the Creperie:

Maybe you don’t think of crepes as romantic… well I’m afraid, you’re wrong. Obviously there’s creperies all over the city. But there’s one that we went to that I think it worth mentioning! Maybe not for straight after your breakfast, but after a day of landmark cruising, you’ll for sure be in need of an afternoon sugar hit, and what more sexy than crepes, waffles, ice cream and coffee? Le Creme de Paris, is a little place that you don’t just walk by once you’ve seen it. I assure you it's also worth going inside if you're a fan of French sweet treats.

To the Rooftops:

Is there a better way to take in a city from the sky? We went to have a drink in the roof terrace at Terrass Hotel. I actually had lots of places to visit after this one, however, this was such a nice spot to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle, it felt only fitting to stick around and soak it all in... The wine was also pretty persuasive! Get up there and get a good table ready for the show.

To the Theatre:

YUHUH, only a short talk away is THE Moulin Rouge. Got to be done, right? Nipple tassels and champagne, equals, a night you'll never forget. I mean, talk about bucket list!

I honestly can't think of how to describe this place. From being outside in the glowing red lights, to the bizarre theme park style queue, to then sitting in some incredible seats at your own private table, with a bottle of fizzy champagne, watching the most captivating show. There's not much I can say here without ruining things. The show will set you back a bit of dollar, but I do think it's all worth it. I’d recommend getting the later show as there’s tonnes of places to visit nearby beforehard. And whilst you’re there, you of course happen to be in the Red Light District of fine old Parieeee!

Do you think Paris really is the city of love, or is there some more contenders out there?!
