HOW TO... Work Remotely

How to Work Abroad

We all daydream about working away from an office - be that at home or abroad. But the reality can be hard, surrounded by distractions and sometimes a bit isolating... it definitely took us some time to adjust too! Trust us though, it is worth the effort. Here are a few tricks that we love.

☻Jump. Yes literally. UP and DOWN when you wake up and get out of bed - You might feel like a pillock at first, and yes you do look like one, but hey don't worry no one can see you as they are commuting

☻Shower, brush your teeth and put your underpants on (even if that is all you wear) - you won't believe how easy it becomes to not bother and just work through day to night in your PJ's. this is not good. stop it.

☻Wear shoes - Once the shoes are on the office day has begun.

☻Lists - write them. work through them. In that order. Don't check your emails (distraction!) until one task is done; work. break. email. repeat.

☻Schedule your day around that yoga class because...erm... YEP, YOU CAN!

☻Skype conference calls. The mute button is YOUR BEST FRIEND EVER - shave your legs in that meeting!

☻Take a Lunch break. Unleash that inner Goddess and cook something or go out and enjoy a new lunch spot...you could even visit your partner or friends at their work place. Whatever you chose make sure you give your brain a bit of downtime.

☻LEAVE THE HOUSE - Go on field trips, find new work spaces, get outside and sip that fresh air

☻Remember that schedule - Make sure you finish the day on time and have an evening

☻Clean before you go to bed. Tidy house, tidy mind. You'll find it easier to wind down and there'll be zero chores and faff in the morning - Procrastination is your enemy homeworkers!

☻Don't forget; if you have done your days check list in record time. STOP. Enjoy the rest of your day. Go to that exhibition you really fancy, watch a film at the cinema, read that book you have on your shelf. Because, guess what, you've earned it.
